Big Data solutions, commonly named Predictive analytics, aim to generate real customer value with emphasis on reducing downtimes and limiting maintenance costs originating from streamlined maintenance intervals resulting from Big Data analysis.
Consequently, the Business Intelligence department of Group IT at our Headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany, is looking for a resource to assist us in addressing this topic preferably in the first quarter of 2016. We therefore offer a
Master Thesis (m/f)
in Big Data Predictive Analytics
Your main tasks
- Collection and analysis of potential use cases for Big Data predictive analytics together with Business stakeholders from all business lines of HeidelbergCement
- Evaluation of applicability and business value of the various use cases
- Analysis of the current environment with regards to Big Data readiness of HeidelbergCement from a technical and organizational perspective
- Evaluation of Predictive analytics solutions on the market with focus on the SAP centric strategy of HeidelbergCement
- Development of a proposal for potential next steps with regards to establish a Big Data strategy @ HeidelbergCement - e.g. recommendation for a Proof of Concept for one of the developed use cases
Our main requirements
- Completion of a Bachelor Degree in computer science and currently studying computer science in a Master program
- First experience in Business Intelligence is preferred
- High apprehension, independent working style, analytic analysis of problems, high level of individual responsibility
- Skills in delivering precise and competent analysis and a structured working behavior
- Ability to work in a team and at the same time possess self-motivation and flexibility to arrive at agreed objectives
- Ability to achieve acceptance and to communicate professionally with colleagues and stakeholders in different areas and hierarchies
- English skills are preferred
